XIII | Abbreviation: | e-ee
Description: | - | Duplication of the verb primitive's final vocal "e" for "elen/eren/enen" verbs, that hold none or more than further vocal in their verb primitive's.
- | For elen/eren/enen verbs it is first checked how many further vocals the verb contains, after the verb ending elen/eren/enen has been cut off. For example:
| |||
- | If now the verb has exactly one further vocal, then the "e" from elen/eren/enen does not get doubled, the accentuation remains short on the verb primitive, e.g. "klapperen" => "ik klapperde", not "ik klappeerde". If however the verb "does not have one further vocal" (means it has more than one vocal or none at all), then the "e" from elen/eren/enen gets doubled, the accentuation becomes long, e.g. "decoreren" => "ik decoreerde", not "ik decorerde" or "spelen" => "ik speelde", not "ik spelde". Accordingly the verb with non-separable verb prefix "onteren": Since there is no further vocal, the "e" from "eren" gets doubled to "ik onteerde", not "ik onterde".
- | Note: The rules here do not match to 100%. Thus you can include verbs that need to be built against these rules in one of the two lists elen/eren/enen-short and elen/eren/enen-long and by that instruct Verbtime to build the verbs accordingly.
- | Note: For strong verbs these rules do only apply for the OTT (Present) and Imperative, as the OVT (Past) and Voltooid Deelwoord (Past Participle) are built strongly, e.g. "bevelen" => "ik beveel" and "beveelt u!", but "ik beval", not "ik beveelde" and "bevolen", not "beveeld".
