Rule II: e2, e-insertion


 II.Abbreviation:e2
 
Description: e-insertion for verbs, whose verb primitive ends on "m" or "n"
 
Example verb: 5. atmen
 
Application: - the verb primitive ends on "m" or "n"
- the preceding character is not "h" (exeption "ch"), "l", "m", "n", "r" or a vocal
- all verb extensions that start with a consonant receive an additional "e" in order to avoid building double consonants (e.g. "du atmest", not "du atmst" or "ihr atmet", not "ihr atmt").

  Applies for (weak verbs):
Präsens:Singular II, Singular III, Plural II
Präteritum: all forms
Konj II (Prät): all forms
Imperativ: Singular II, Plural II
Partizip: always
 
  Applies for (strong verbs):

  Example:
Präteritum: "du atmetest", not "du atmtest"
